COMPLETED PROJECTS

The Columbus Construction team has extensive experience in commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional projects. Our list of accomplishments is ever-growing, and in the past, we have worked in the areas of arts, senior living, education, healthcare, hospitality, and church and religious institutions.

  • Penn Wynne Library: Back in 2015, the Penn Wynne Library was completely renovated by Columbus. The new building contains skylights and glass enclosed porches in both the children’s and adult areas. New carpeting, paint and shelving improved the whole building. As well as a handicapped accessible meeting room, expanded seating, and work spaces throughout the library. The Penn Wynne Library had a grand reopening party on March 20, 2016, attended by hundreds of people who could not wait to see their new neighborhood library.

  • Longport Borough: The project consisted of proposed Interior Renovations and Related Improvements at the Longport Municipal Hall. Columbus made it their goal to enhance the look of this building for residents who visit and its employees.

  • SEPTA: Columbus Construction worked on an extensive project for the Pennsylvania transportation business, SEPTA.  We renovated and restored seven major train stations, as well one roof repair.  The goal of this project was to heighten the aesthetic and structural appeal of some of SEPTA’s major stations.

  • Upland Township Fire Station: The intent of the project was an Addition and Renovations to the Upland Fire Station in the Borough of Upland. Construction was comprised of three major projects: General (including Site Improvements), Mechanical, and Electrical. Columbus gave this fire station an appealing, yet updated look.

  • Media Youth Center: Columbus is providing interior upgrades to restroom facilities, lockers, concession facilities and other adjacent areas in order to better accommodate students. The changes will make the youth center a much more appealing and accommodating place for teens and children to go to.

  • Woodland Village: Columbus Construction has completed several projects in this shopping center including interior and exterior fit outs, facade remodeling, and complete construction of a Dollar General store. The major structural alterations and renovations were made to accommodate the expansion of the existing retail market.

  • Woodland Village II: For this project we will be acting as both Construction Managers and General Contractors and working closely with the owner and architect in order to complete an exterior facelift as well as upgrades to the site work and shopping center in general.  This work Columbus is executing will enhance the overall center aesthetics and therefore help the owner in attracting more favorable top credit tenants.

  • Pizza and Pasta Restaurant: This Italian Restaurant, coffee shop, and apartment building trio is a new project in Center City, Philadelphia.  Columbus is executing a complete interior fit out and construction to accommodate the new restaurant and its specific needs. This is sure to be a frequented spot for locals and visitors alike!

  • Gotwal Elementary School: Columbus has been contracted by the Norristown School District for complete building renovations including new windows, doors, concrete, masonry, and HVAC systems. This upcoming work is critical in order to accommodate the district needs and the new school season.

  • Milkboy Center City: Milk Boy is a café and live music venue being built at 1100 Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia.  Columbus is performing a complete exterior renovation, along with an interior fit-out to make this two-story café and music venue the next hot spot in Center City Philadelphia.

  • Asian Arts Initiative: We are supplying this Asian Arts Center an interior fit out to provide exact specifications needed to display the art and programs held in the building.  The construction of this modern facility supplies all services required to house and flourish the Asian Arts.

  • Fattah Homes II: Columbus built five brand new homes for People’s Emergency Center. The complete demolition of deteriorated existing structures and construction of these five houses in West Philadelphia will provide low-income housing to people in need, while bringing new life to the neighborhood.

  • Philadelphia Day Care: Columbus was able to work closely with the owner and architect of the space while performing Construction Management and General Construction.  Through complete interior and exterior finishes a brand new day care was built, complete with classrooms, a gymnasium, and all other necessities.  We were able to remodel the existing manufacturing site into a workable, accessible, and welcoming day care center to serve West Philadelphia families.

  • Columbus Construction Offices: We constructed our Philadelphia offices with an interior fit out to formulate office space including several offices, bathrooms, kitchen, and warehouse space. We were able to convert this old, outdated warehouse space into a modern and dynamic office space.

  • Teach and Tumble: Teach and Tumble is a day care facility located in the Woodland Village Shopping Center, Columbus provided an interior fit out for this new facility.  By taking the existing space and completely reworking it, we were able to successfully make a welcoming, warm, and fun environment for children, while at the same time supply the staff with an efficient and adequate work and care environment.

  • Western Union Building:  Columbus completed Construction Management and General Construction while working closely with both the owner and architect in order to complete the building exterior and interior finish of the luxury penthouse units and well as several condominium units. Columbus Construction’s work is sure to keep the building as one of the top residencies in Philadelphia.

  • Garces Trading Company:  Columbus Construction worked with Garces for all mechanical, electrical, and interior finishes to the building.  We worked with their specifications in mind in order to create a perfect interior finish for the high-end Philadelphia restaurant.  The space was expertly prepared for the iron chef Jose Garces and his staff to decorate the interior of the restaurant exactly as they wished.

  • GPHA (Woodland Ave): Columbus Construction did a complete renovation and interior fit out for new mental health and dental facility located at 55th and Woodland Avenue.  Through our renovations we were able to produce a modern and professional health care facility including a large, sunny lobby space, multiple dental rooms, and a large cafeteria, lockers, and changing area for staff.

  • GPHA (31st & Reed): The GPHA Carl Moore Center is now the new and improved health center providing dental, behavioral healthcare, and pharmacy services for entire families. Columbus constructed a major demo and interior fit out for the new health center located on the corner of S 31st and Reed Street in Philadelphia.  GPHA celebrates its 45th anniversary with the buildings new design that produces a modern and professional health care facility benefiting patients and GPHA staff.

  • GPHA (Chinatown): The Greater Philadelphia Health Action located in Chinatown had its grand opening in July 2017 after a complete interior fit out was done by Columbus Construction. The non-profit organization now has an entire updated layout, such as replaced tiled floor, fresh paint and light installations. These changes allow the location to provide comprehensive primary medical, dental, behavioral health and child development services. Chinatown Medical Services located at 432. N 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123 will provide medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services; with the capacity to serve over 25,000 residents of the community.

  • World Team Tennis (Philadelphia Freedoms):  Columbus supplied project management and consulting services to accommodate tennis facility in 2009 at King of Prussia as well as in 2010 at Villanova University. The spaces can now host various World Team Tennis events.

  • Sporting Club at the Bellevue:  Project included interior finishing construction of management offices, along with miscellaneous alterations to provide new retail space in the club.

  • Roman Catholic High School:  Our first project here consisted of interior renovations to the existing gymnasium and auditorium, including installation of a new HVAC system.  The second project was an interior retro fit of the main staircase including new stair treads, patching, and the finishing of ornate plaster walls and ceilings.  The next project involved interior finishes and improvements to the House Art Center, an entirely different building.  Another recent project with the school involved locker relocation and plastering, along with remodeling of the basement.  Roman Catholic’s existing architecture was classic, and it was important to us that our additions blended seamlessly and matched the rest of the beautifully constructed building.

  • Philadelphia Health Department:  Columbus has completed many projects with Philadelphia Health Department over time, and it remains an ongoing project.  The goal of each job is to accommodate lead abatement programs, which includes, but is not limited to, demolition, environmental monitoring and removal of lead, and new interior construction at various residential properties throughout the city.  When health problems in residences arise, Columbus is called upon to make the house safe and remove lead.

  • UCubes: This was a task completed for U3 Ventures, Columbus created a prototype, about 300 square feet, of a complete interior finish of modular student housing unit.  The prototype was set up for display at the Navy yard for view by various Universities throughout the country as an easy and affordable solution to future student housing needs.

  • University of Pennsylvania Life Care Facility:  This project includes total maintenance, remodeling, and service of the University of Pennsylvania building.  Columbus worked as Construction Manger and performed general construction while working closely with the owner and architect to complete a 70,000 square foot renovation and interior fit out to accommodate a new life care facility.

  • Frankford Shopping Center: Columbus made additions to several different existing retail stores in the center, along with remodeling of the center’s façade and complete construction of a Dollar General store.  Columbus also worked on a vanilla box and demising walls to add more retail space to the center.

  • Paxon Hollow Country Club: Columbus Construction was awarded the General Construction and Site Work Contract for the Additions/Alterations to the country club.  Construction consisted of a full roof replacement, a new two story addition containing a custom commercial kitchen, bridal suite and office areas.  We were responsible for the coordination of the Roofing, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Electrical Contractors.  During the course of this project, Columbus had to perform work while the restaurant, golf course/country club, and banquet hall were fully operational.  The site package wrapped the entire existing building and beyond which required clear and concise management to keep all working parts running smoothly.

  • Chester Firing Range: Columbus built Chester County Firing Range for Public Safety Training Center from the ground up. This design consisted of a 12-lane indoor firing range with firing positions at 50 yards, and various shorter intervals. Additionally, the project provided two 100-yard firing lanes capable of supporting high power assault and sniper rifle fire. There are additional spaces within the building which include administrative offices, armory storage, fire line safety officer office, firearm cleaning stations, and training room. The building also features an area for the SWAT team and their armored tactical assault vehicles. The rear of the building provides a two-story tactical simulation/kill house where instructors can observe tactics utilized by personnel training.

  • Dickinson Street Lot: Columbus is revamping the parking lot on the corner of 30th & Dickinson Street. This project will include modifying the driveways, reducing underground basin size, and eliminating basin manhole. As well as, clean out structures and replacing the water quality structure for this lot.

  • Blaine Street Lot: Columbus Construction is paving a new parking lot on Blaine Street and 2009 W. Hunting Park Avenue. We are giving this corner a cleaner look and surrounding the lot with fencing and landscaping. This lot expands parking for the Greater Philadelphia Health Action facility.
